Wataru Kawahata, Ph.D.
Dr. Wataru Kawahata is responsible for medicinal chemistry at PRISM BioLab. He has more than 20 years of experience in drug discovery research.
Prior to joining PRISM BioLab, he worked at Asahi Kasei Pharma on GPCR projects and at Carna Biosciences on kinase projects. He led projects from hit identification to the preclinical stage and contributed to the discovery of two novel kinase inhibitors currently in clinical trials, one targeting an immunological disease and the other a hematologic cancer.
He received his M.S. from Kyushu University and his Ph.D. from Osaka Prefecture University.
